Sound can make Music

Today we recorded the first parts of a new song that we wrote, honestly, yesterday. It's such an awesome feeling when songs just come together and you didn't even plan it to happen that way. The whole "move" ,so far, has been an amazing experience. I've learned so much about myself and not to mention learning a lot about how to lead worship. I can't put into words how blessed I am to be given the opportunity to move out here. Although, there is only 3 months left here in the Louisville....I will continue my journeys for years to come. I will keep you all posted as much as possible and when necessary. STAY TUNED...

CIY FLORIDA

I have been in Panama City Beach,FL for the past 5 days helping lead worship with the Matt Bayless Band for Southeast Christian CIY conference. It's been a blast getting to know the different staff members from both CIY and Southeast. I can't even begin to describe the way worship is overflowing here. As most youth groups, some kids are very interested in what God is doing and some who could care less, but nonetheless kids are worshiping. Arms raised and voices shouting, it's a very awesome thing when multiple people get together to glorify God. I know to some this post might seem a little "religious" but what do you expect...i'm a freaking christian worship leader. God has done amazing things in these kids lives this week and it is awesome to witness. This summer is going to be quite a unique experience if moments like this occur all summer long. On a lighter note, we've done some pretty sweet stuff as well. Renting vespas, eating amazing food, tasting the best ice cream, walking on the beach, throwing frisbees, seeing crazy beach party'ers, relaxing. All this stuff has made this trip quite memorable. Music and being on the beach mixes so well...at least to me.
I've uploaded a lot of pictures on facebook of some of the cool things we have done, soooooo.....Go check them out.
For you who read this post...You're crazy!

Accomplishment!

We finished writing a song today!
It should be a fairly nice one and I'm holding it back a little bit. I actually think it will be freakin sick! It feels good to get a song accomplished and out of the way. It's been too long!
That's all for today.

Can't keep track

So I did exactly what I said I would do..... I would forget to update this thing!
It's easier to do when you're on the road traveling than to try and update every night just being at home. More stuff happens on the road, and I'm sure this summer I will have quite a ton of interesting blogs....trust me.
I finally feel acclimated to the great kentuckiana area and things are going really well. So far we've been trying to pump out a couple songs as well as get stuff ready for the summer. There is a lot that goes into getting things right for the conferences that we are gonna be doing. On top of all that I've met some really cool people who are more than welcoming. Where I live is right near a road called Bardstown Rd. it's primarily where all the clubs are at and little boutique mom and pop shops. So now I can look fashionable while I party my face off....yea right. Time honestly fly's when you are having a great time....it's not just a saying.
I will keep you posted when anything major happens, and believe me you will be the first too know
Thanks a lot for reading about my life

DAY 12

5 DAYS I know.....i'm sorry!
I don't want to update you on things such as tornado's, aliens attacking, severe acid rain, or zombie animals. Although none of that happened!
The past couple days have consisted of me becoming more acclimated with people and my surroundings. The Kentuckiana area is much, much, different then L.A. People are nicer and the weather is more true to its season. It's been relaxing so far in the sense that I am basically on my own but crazy at the same time. I can't really think of anything that has been super memorable or hilarious just yet, but I'm sure there will be some soon to come. I did eat some cracker barrel and paid only 10 bucks to see how stuffed I could get....It was amazing. I've eaten at a lot of great places but 1 place that left a bad impression in my heart. Skyline Chili quickly went on the "never eat again" list as I consumed chili that tasted more like cinnamon than the spicy chili flavor I love. STAY AWAY FROM SKYLINE CHILI!!!! PLEASE....
On that fine note I will leave you guys open ended until the next blog.....

day 7

I finally moved into the house where I will be staying for the next six months.
My good friends let me crash at their place for the past couple nights but now I am over in Louisville staying in a house that is over 100 years old. It's a great place and a great neighborhood. It just feels like one of those houses you've always wanted to be in at one point in your life.
I also started my job, for reals, today! It wasn't anything to exciting today because I still need to figure out my weekly agenda and what exactly I'll be doing during the weeks. So far the people I've met have been great and they just want everything to go super smooth. The future is looking like it will a lot of fun but we'll see what God's got in store for this one.
Thanks for staying posted on my life you little internet stalker's you.

A sunday (day 6)

The first Sunday evening I have had off in a long time!
It was relaxing, it was enjoyable, and I couldn't ask for a better day.
I had to play again this morning for the new church which I am interning at and it went really well. We played some songs that I have never even touched or heard in a while but it was cool....it keeps me on my toes you know?
Started meeting lots of new people already and still getting acclimated to this great change of pace for a little while. Everyone here in the great KENTUCKIANA area are really nice and make it easy to step into this new home for a little bit.
I'm really looking forward to see what's gonna happen.

Less than 24 hours and I'm already doing my job (day 5)

It's been a long day so I'm gonna keep this short...

I basically woke up at 9:00am to take Johnny to the airport and bid him farewell.
After we dropped him off we hit up some HARDEES (carls jr.) breakfast.
After that we pretty much headed over to the church at 12 in the afternoon to let tommy practice.
A guy who was supposed to play didn't show up....so that left me....ready and willing to play.
It had only been about 17 hours and I already got put to work haha.
But it is really a great thing because I didn't know what I would do if I wasn't playing.
After a whole day of playing I am back at the Dunn's place relaxing and watching 13 going on 3o on the television. It's a gonna be a nice evening......
Take it easy everyone.

Louie-ville (day 4)

(picture from Oklahoma iceness)

I finally made it...
After days of dryness, ice, cold, wet, and interesting weather and places I finally made it to my new home for the next 6 months.
We woke up this morning from a nice sleep at the Super 8 motel which was not worth the money spent...but it was a place to sleep. We made our way to downtown Nashville and took in the sights. We stopped in Downtown on a street called Music Row which was basically a couple blocks of recording studios one after the other. I was then told by a friend to eat at, one of the best pancake places I've ever been, the "Pancake Pantry". If you are ever in Nashville you need to go there and experience it...it's great! We continued to drive around Nashville and saw where the Tennessee Titans play and a replica of an old Roman building. It was a very interesting city and you gotta check it out...it is better than New Mexico! We then said "Peace" to Nashville and flew on up towards Louisville where the weather is cold and snowy. About 20 miles out it started snowing in parts but the roads were kept dry. We made it to Louisville and said "Hello" to my new hometown for the next couple months. I was able to say hi to a bunch a new and familiar faces at the church I will be working at, then we went and got some food down by the Ohio river. Checked out some downtown Louisville stuff and then shot on over to my buddies house in New Albany (right across the river). The night has been interesting and I can tell this mini-move is gonna be a great one. Tomorrow I figure my life out....somewhat.

Ice Land (day 3 of my travels)

Well today was interesting……

We woke up to a wonderful layer of ice on the road after leaving the one and only La Quinta! What a wonderful drive it was through that rock solid ice. Speeds increasing to nearly 20 miles an hour, I know what you’re thinking….”He is Hardcore!”. And thank you for thinking that because it takes a man to navigate your way through thick nasty ice on a MAIN highway. We stopped halfway through the ice mess because a dozen miles worth of trees had frozen solid and basically looked like glass wrapped trees. If you can imagine a winter wonderland that froze over, this was it! One of the most interesting sights I have ever seen in my whole life. Anyways, after about a couple miles it was time for gas. Like most Californians, I put the pump in and went into the mini-mart. Apparently Oklahoma hasn’t caught on to the gas regulator on the pump and therefore seven extra dollars flooded from my tank and out of my pocket. Gasoline rushed out of that tank with no holding back. As much of a problem that was, it got us 400 miles on one tank (that’s what I’m talking about!). Ice cleared up 60 miles down the highway and we entered into Arkansas which is a very beautiful state. We stopped in Little Rock and sat down for some lunch. I had the best rueben sandwich of my life and a little more to eat. We were able to see a couple cool “little” sights for a second and then bolted towards Tennessee. We drove past Memphis and onto good ol’ Jackson, TN. It’s good because we met up with my uncle who I haven’t seen in 8 years! We like to call him Tony Carboni. We met up at a place called Logans Roadhouse and talked for a good 2 hours. He’s got the best laugh in the world and it was a great time to spend with him. We ended that wonderful time and shot straight for about 2 hours to Nashville,TN where I sit now…typing…..in a SUPER 8 motel.....yikes!

All in all the day was long but full of fun and good sites and good times. The only crappy part of this road trip, so far, has been New Mexico; Which I still believe is crap! Sorry if that offends you New Mexico lovers. I’m off to sleep to get some rest for my big arrival into the city where I will spend the next 6 months of my life learning, growing, and updating you. Louisville here I come!

Thanks everyone for reading, I’m out!!!

Don't live in NEW MEXICO (day 2 of my travels)

What a day.....Did it even happen?
I am writing this after driving for 12 and a half hours straight, please excuse and stutters, slurs, or bursts of outrage.

We left La Quinta at 8:30 am after having a very nice, complimentary, breakfast (those nice la quinta people!). It was freakin' freezing yet again and low and behold there was ice on the windshield. We scraped that mess off and hit the road with only one thing in mind....get farther.
We quickly came across New Mexico and found at that it is quite possibly the nastiest place in the U.S. If you ever wanted to go there.....steer clear. Albuquereque isn't as great as it sounds! I can't say much more except that it was the first time I had eat SONIC BURGER in about 6 months. As we were leaving the city we saw a sign that said "BILLY THE KID CAME THROUGH THIS TOWN.....WE THINK". Which brings something to my attention; Why the heck would you create I sign out of something you think happened! You either know Billy came through or not. Anyways, the scenery quickly changes once you get to Texas and it's a delightful yet flat change.
We drove and drove and drove some more and came across the Western Hemisphere's second largest cross. It stands a full 190 ft and is about 19 stories high (if you count in stories). It was truly an awesome sight. At the base of the cross was the story of Jesus last hours of life. It then wraps around the side to reveal an empty tomb. More pictures will be included on my facebook later on next week. We continued to drive to Oklahoma City, OK where I am sitting right now, in another LA QUINTA, typing my summarized life to you guys. All in all it was a good but long day of driving. Saw alot of different things and basically vegged out watching white road lines fly by.
Winter here is definitely not the same in LA!
This short change yet beneficial change ,in my life, is gonna be a great experience. I will continue to keep you posted and stay tuned for tomorrow...LIVE FROM NASHVILLE.....oh snaps!!
Oh yea and thanks for all of you who attended the going away party and showed some love. You all are great and I truly appreciate everything you guys said and did. Mad props to Ian and Lucia for pretty much setting it up. You guys are rockin.
ALRIGHT
PEACE

And so it begins....

Today marked the beginning of my journey to the land of Indiana. Six months is now in session!
My sister's boyfriend, Johnny, and I left the small town of Northridge at 8 am. We started our treck through the mighty Mojave desert where everything looks exactly the same. You can honestly drive the whole way and feel like you didn't go anywhere. Anyways, we stopped in Needles,CA to grab some Carls Jr. where the cash register tried to steal 50 cents from Johnny (she thought she was sly, obviously not sly enough.) We made our way through the beginnings of Arizona and on up to the Grand Canyon. If you ever thought the Grand Canyon was over-rated....you need to getcho self over to that place. You'll freeze your nips off but it is quite possibly one of the most astonishing places I've ever been/seen. It seems like it never ends and you can't even fathom how monstrous this place is!! So get on over there when you can (there will be more pictures of it up on facebook later). We then traveled on over to Flagstaff, AZ which is where I am currently sitting and typing this semi-pointless blog. We ate at one of the best places I've been in a while, but I might be partial to it because I was on the road all day and had only eaten cookies. I am now at LA QUINTA having a little fiesta of my own sharing my life with you guys. Tomorrow is gonna be quite interesting; We're gonna be driving through the rest of Arizona and then some New Mexico and some Texas. Yes I am going to talk my hick slang to the southerners and shoot the breeze about Bobby Labonte and NASCAR. We'll see.......
That's it... Thanks for reading this! Have a good one and get ready for DAY TWO of my travels.
Peace

The Initial

This blog is intended to let YOU...the reader.... know more than enough about my life!
The idea for this blog came to me while joking about blogging while talking casually to a friend. The point of this blog is to keep you updated on what is going on with me as I travel/move/vacation/whatever it is I do. For the next 6 months I am gonna try to update this at least once a week (If I can do it once a day then you are in luck!). You will see the awesomeness of my life!!! I hope I set this whole idea up right for you. Don't set to many expectations for this blog and if you do make sure they are very low. Thanks for being interested in the things I do.
